In December 2025, Jio Signed Up Almost Twice as Many Broadband Subscribers as Its Closest Rival

Summary:
According to TRAI data for December 2025, Jio has strengthened its leadership in India’s home broadband market, adding nearly twice as many subscribers as its closest competitor, Airtel. Driven by the nationwide expansion of AirFiber and fixed wireless access, Jio gained over 8.7 lakh new users across FWA and wired FTTH, while Airtel added around 4.9 lakh. The company commands a dominant 79% share in the fixed wireless segment and remains the largest wired broadband provider with 13.8 million subscribers, highlighting its role as the primary force behind India’s growing high-speed home connectivity.

According to TRAI’s telecom subscription figures for December 2025, Jio has reinforced its dominant position in India’s home broadband market, adding nearly double the number of subscribers compared to its closest rival within a single month.

Fueled by the swift nationwide rollout of AirFiber and fixed wireless access (FWA) services, Jio registered more than 8.7 lakh new broadband customers across both FWA and wired FTTH segments. In contrast, Airtel added roughly 4.9 lakh subscribers during the same period.

The lead is even more striking in the fixed wireless category. Over the past six months, Jio has secured an impressive 79% market share in this segment, onboarding over four times as many users as its nearest competitor.

At the same time, Jio continues to hold its position as India’s largest wired broadband provider, serving 13.8 million subscribers and consistently recording stronger monthly net additions than its peers. Taken together, these figures underscore Jio’s role as the key driver behind the country’s home broadband expansion, influencing the next stage of high-speed digital connectivity across both urban centers and rural regions.
