Airtel Tops Mobile Subscriber Additions in July, Jio Follows Closely

India’s wireless subscriber base grew by 55.38 lakh in July 2026, reaching 128.79 crore, with Bharti Airtel leading additions at 26.8 lakh, followed by Reliance Jio with 24.4 lakh, Vodafone Idea with 2.4 lakh and BSNL with 1.68 lakh. Broadband subscriptions also increased 0.64% to 1,094.48 million, according to TRAI data. By month-end, Jio had 50.60 crore wireless subscribers, Airtel 48.94 crore and Vodafone Idea 19.90 crore. 

Bharti Airtel recorded the highest growth in mobile subscribers during July, adding 26.8 lakh net users, while Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom operator, added 24.4 lakh subscribers, according to the latest monthly data released by sector regulator TRAI.

Vodafone Idea also expanded its mobile subscriber base, registering net additions of 2.4 lakh users. State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) added 1.68 lakh wireless subscribers during the month.

India’s wireless market added 55.38 lakh mobile subscribers in July 2026, taking the total base to 128.79 crore by the end of the month, compared with 128.23 crore in June.

TRAI said broadband subscriptions also continued to grow. Based on information submitted by 1,562 operators, the total broadband subscriber base increased from 1,087.50 million (108.75 crore) in June 2026 to 1,094.48 million (109.44 crore) in July, reflecting monthly growth of 0.64%.

Airtel’s addition of 26.88 lakh mobile subscribers increased its wireless customer base to 48.94 crore. Jio added 24.46 lakh users, taking its wireless subscriber base to 50.60 crore.

Vodafone Idea’s wireless subscriber base reached 19.90 crore in July after the operator added 2.40 lakh mobile subscribers during the month.
