Airties Eyes Wider Wi Fi Reach and New Markets Through Aprecomm Acquisition

Summary:
Airties has agreed to acquire India-based Aprecomm to expand its Wi-Fi and broadband device management capabilities and strengthen its presence in emerging markets. While Aprecomm will continue operating as an independent subsidiary, both companies plan to collaborate on technologies such as AI and explore cross-selling opportunities. The acquisition, expected to close in 2026, will combine Airties’ strong presence with major global telecom operators and Aprecomm’s expertise in supporting legacy devices across developing markets, helping broaden market reach and enhance broadband network management.

Airties has announced that its acquisition of India-based Aprecomm will broaden its ability to manage and support a larger range of Wi-Fi and broadband devices while strengthening its presence across emerging markets.

Although both companies develop software platforms that enable internet service providers (ISPs) to monitor and optimise Wi-Fi networks, they primarily serve different customer segments. Airties works with several major global telecom operators, including AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile, and Vodafone, focusing on advanced Wi-Fi and broadband equipment. In contrast, Aprecomm specialises in emerging markets, offering solutions that support older and legacy devices, including hardware with limited memory capacity.

Aprecomm to Continue Operating Independently

The companies have not disclosed the financial details of the acquisition. However, Airties Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Metin Taskin explained that Aprecomm will remain a wholly owned subsidiary while continuing to function independently.

According to Taskin, the existing Aprecomm team will remain in place. While both companies will continue managing their respective product portfolios separately, they plan to collaborate by sharing selected technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and may also explore cross-selling opportunities.

Approximately 70 Aprecomm employees, including CEO and co-founder Pramod Gummaraj, are expected to join Airties as part of the transaction. The acquisition is anticipated to be completed sometime in 2026.

Taskin noted that although the two companies address similar customer needs, they have not traditionally competed directly in the market. He also pointed out that former Airties CEO Philippe Alcaras joined Aprecomm’s advisory board in April, ahead of the acquisition announcement.

Expanding Through Acquisition

Taskin described the deal as a strategic fit that complements Airties’ existing business rather than overlapping with it. He explained that the two companies offer different product portfolios, making the acquisition an opportunity to enter markets where Airties currently has limited operations.

He added that the move will help expand the company’s market reach and revenue opportunities while reinforcing its commitment to improving broadband user experience and network management across different regions.

At present, Aprecomm’s platform supports devices in around 7 million homes and business locations, including deployments integrated with customer premises equipment (CPE) manufacturers such as Hitron. By comparison, Airties’ solutions currently serve approximately 50 million residential and business locations worldwide.
