DE-CIX Strengthens Chennai Footprint Through Partnership With AdaniConneX

Summary:
DE-CIX India has expanded its Chennai presence by adding a new Internet Exchange point of presence at the AdaniConneX Chennai 1 data centre in SIPCOT IT Park. The facility will provide networks, cloud providers, content companies and businesses with more direct connectivity, helping improve network performance and reduce latency. With a 33 MW IT capacity and access to terrestrial fibre, the centre strengthens Chennai’s growing digital infrastructure ecosystem, while DE-CIX’s connection to more than 600 networks further expands interconnection opportunities for customers.

DE-CIX India has strengthened its interconnection footprint in Chennai by launching a new point of presence (PoP) at the AdaniConneX Chennai 1 data centre. The expansion is intended to enhance connectivity for networks, content providers, cloud platforms and businesses operating in or connecting through the city.

AdaniConneX Chennai 1 Data Centre Adds New Connectivity Option

The new PoP brings DE-CIX’s Internet Exchange services to the AdaniConneX Chennai 1 facility. Internet exchanges enable networks to exchange traffic directly, reducing dependence on multiple intermediary networks. This can improve network performance, reduce latency and provide customers with more direct connectivity.

Chennai is becoming an increasingly important part of India’s digital infrastructure, supported by its growing data-centre ecosystem and subsea cable connectivity, which together make the city a major digital connectivity hub.

Located within SIPCOT IT Park, the Chennai 1 facility operated by AdaniConneX is a multi-tenant data centre designed to support an IT load of 33 MW. It also offers terrestrial fibre connectivity from leading telecom operators.

For companies delivering digital services, faster connections and reliable network performance are becoming increasingly important. The expanding use of cloud applications, video streaming, AI services and other data-intensive technologies is driving demand for high-capacity networks and low-latency connectivity.

How Will AdaniConneX Benefit?

DE-CIX India operates Internet Exchange Points across several major Indian cities and currently connects more than 600 networks across India and globally. Its presence at Chennai 1 provides networks and digital service providers with another gateway to the wider interconnection ecosystem.

The collaboration also enhances the connectivity-focused capabilities of AdaniConneX Chennai 1. By adding an Internet Exchange PoP within the facility, customers can gain more direct access to network and content ecosystems alongside their existing data-centre infrastructure.

The development comes as India’s data-centre and digital infrastructure sectors continue to grow. As businesses increasingly shift workloads to cloud platforms and demand for AI and digital services expands, the need for efficient interconnection is also expected to increase.

The new DE-CIX PoP adds another layer to Chennai’s evolving digital infrastructure and further strengthens the city’s position as a key data-centre and connectivity hub in India.
