Vodafone Idea Introduces Home Broadband Plan Bundled with OTT Entertainment Benefits

Summary:
Vodafone Idea, through its You Broadband subsidiary, offers a ₹1,297 fibre broadband plan that combines high-speed internet with a wide range of OTT entertainment benefits. The plan includes 3.5TB of monthly data, speeds of up to 200 Mbps, and access to Vi Movies & TV, featuring platforms such as JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, FanCode, Lionsgate Play, and others. While the service is available only in select cities, it is aimed at premium broadband users seeking bundled entertainment. However, Vodafone Idea continues to lag behind Airtel and Jio, which offer higher-speed broadband plans in the market.

Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), India’s third-largest telecom operator, offers a home broadband plan bundled with several OTT (over-the-top) streaming services. Unlike Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel, which actively promote their broadband offerings under the JioHome and Airtel Homes brands, Vodafone Idea provides fixed broadband services through its subsidiary, You Broadband. The service is currently available only in selected cities and regions. Customers subscribing to this plan receive high-speed fibre broadband along with access to multiple OTT platforms.

Vodafone Idea ₹1,297 Broadband Plan

The ₹1,297 broadband plan includes 3.5TB of monthly Fair Usage Policy (FUP) data. After the allotted data is exhausted, internet speeds are reduced to 2 Mbps. Along with broadband connectivity, subscribers receive access to Vi Movies & TV, which includes content from platforms such as JioHotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, ShemarooMe, FanCode, MX Player, TimesPlay, Lionsgate Play, Manorama Max, Adda Times, Chaupal, PlayFlix, Klikk, Distro, PocketFilms, YuppTV, NexGTV, KancchaLanka, ASCDigital, and Shemaroo Gujarati.

The OTT content can be streamed on both smart TVs and mobile devices. Since the service is delivered over a fibre network, customers can expect stable, high-speed internet connectivity. The entertainment package is provided under the Vi MTV West subscription.

Through such offerings, Vodafone Idea aims to attract premium broadband users. However, the company continues to trail competitors such as Airtel and Jio in the fixed broadband segment. The ₹1,297 plan is currently the highest-speed broadband option available from Vodafone Idea, with no plans offering speeds beyond 200 Mbps. While Airtel and Jio provide faster broadband tiers, the demand for speeds above 200 Mbps remains limited among most households in India.
