Summary:
Reliance Jio’s AirFiber service crossed 14 million subscribers in Q1 FY2026–27, contributing more than 75% of the company’s 8.6 million fixed broadband additions over the past year. Jio’s total fixed broadband base reached 28.6 million, giving it over 43% market share, while its overall subscriber base grew to 533.3 million. Alongside strong 5G growth and higher data consumption, Jio Platforms reported double-digit revenue growth and record EBITDA, with AirFiber continuing to drive the company’s home broadband expansion through its fixed wireless access technology.
Reliance Jio’s AirFiber service surpassed 14 million subscribers by the end of the first quarter of FY2026–27, accounting for the majority of the company’s fixed broadband growth during the period.
According to the financial and operational results released by Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Jio’s total fixed broadband subscriber base reached 28.6 million as of June 2026. Over the previous 12 months, the company added nearly 8.6 million new fixed broadband customers.
Of these additions, JioAirFiber contributed more than 75%, representing over 6.45 million net subscriber additions during the year based on figures shared by the company.
Jio Reports More Than 43% Fixed Broadband Market Share
Reliance stated that Jio now commands a fixed broadband market share exceeding 43%, including subscribers connected through both JioFiber and the JioAirFiber fixed wireless access (FWA) platform.
The company credited this growth to its in-house fixed wireless technology stack and highlighted its strong performance in both the 5G and home broadband segments. During the past year, Jio added more than 73 million 5G subscribers alongside 8.6 million fixed broadband customers.
Since AirFiber contributed over three-fourths of the total broadband additions, its subscriber base of more than 14 million now makes up almost half of Jio’s overall fixed broadband customer base of 28.6 million.
Unlike traditional fibre broadband, JioAirFiber delivers internet connectivity through Jio’s wireless network instead of requiring a direct fibre connection to every customer location. However, the company did not disclose separate quarterly subscriber additions for JioAirFiber and JioFiber in its Q1 FY27 results.
Total Subscriber Base Climbs to 533.3 Million
Jio’s overall customer base grew to 533.3 million by the end of June 2026. During the quarter, the telecom operator added 8.9 million net subscribers while reducing its monthly churn rate to 1.6%.
The company’s 5G subscriber base expanded to around 285 million, including 73 million users added over the previous 12 months. Reliance also noted that traffic carried on its 5G network is now roughly 1.5 times higher than that of its 4G network.
Total data consumption across the Jio network increased 26.9% year-on-year, reaching 69.4 billion GB during Q1 FY27. Average monthly data usage also rose to 43.7 GB per subscriber.
Jio’s Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) improved to ₹215.6, up from ₹214 in Q4 FY26 and ₹208.8 in Q1 FY26. Reliance attributed the increase to an improved subscriber mix and seasonal factors, although promotional offers for fixed broadband customers partially moderated the overall ARPU growth.
Digital Services Continue to Drive Growth
For Q1 FY27, Jio Platforms reported gross revenue of ₹45,961 crore, representing 12% year-on-year growth, while revenue from operations increased 11.8% to ₹39,173 crore.
Revenue from digital services grew 20% compared to the previous year, supported by businesses including content, cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and managed services. In comparison, the connectivity segment recorded 11% growth.
Jio Platforms also posted a record EBITDA of ₹20,865 crore, up 15.1% year-on-year, with the EBITDA margin improving by 150 basis points to 53.3%. Profit after tax increased 9.2% to ₹7,764 crore.
Reliance said its mobility, home broadband, and enterprise businesses all delivered solid performance during the quarter. Within the home broadband segment, JioAirFiber remained the largest contributor to new subscriber additions, reinforcing the company’s focus on fixed wireless access as a key driver of broadband expansion.
