Summary:
Excitel returned to profitability in FY26 after streamlining operations and focusing on sustainable growth. The ISP exited markets where it could not achieve sufficient scale, concentrated on key cities, and improved efficiency through measures such as reusing network equipment. These efforts helped the company move from a Rs 74 crore loss in FY25 to a Rs 40 crore profit in FY26. While its subscriber base remained stable at around one million users, Excitel is targeting more than 20% growth next year and plans to enhance customer experience by introducing advanced technologies such as Wi-Fi 6 devices and mesh routers.
Regional internet service provider Excitel has reported a net profit for FY26 after undertaking a series of operational improvements aimed at strengthening business efficiency. The company streamlined its operations during the year, helping it improve profitability while maintaining its subscriber base. A key part of this strategy involved exiting markets where growth prospects were limited, as achieving scale remains essential for profitability in the broadband business.
Excitel CEO Varun Pasricha said the company has spent the past two years focusing on operational efficiency, long-term sustainability, and profitable growth. He noted that Excitel chose to withdraw from locations where it was unable to achieve the scale required for sustainable expansion.
As a result, the company has concentrated its efforts on major markets such as Hyderabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Kanpur, where business momentum has been stronger. Through tighter operational discipline and initiatives such as reusing networking equipment, including routers, Excitel improved its financial performance, moving from a loss of Rs 74 crore in FY25 to a profit of Rs 40 crore in FY26.
While the company’s subscriber count remained largely unchanged during the year, Excitel expects growth of more than 20 per cent in FY27, potentially increasing its user base from around one million to 1.2 million subscribers. A larger customer base is expected to support further revenue growth. Excitel remains one of India’s leading ISPs and also provides bundled broadband and IPTV services.
Looking ahead, the company plans to enhance its service offerings by deploying more advanced networking equipment. Excitel intends to introduce Wi-Fi 6 devices and mesh router solutions to improve connectivity and user experience.
Pasricha said the company is working closely with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to bring the latest customer-premises equipment, including Wi-Fi 6 and mesh routers, to consumers as part of its strategy to deliver a more premium broadband experience.
